Package: exim4-daemon-light
Version: 4.80-7
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

The subject says it all, so here is my motivation for making this
request:

I run the lightweight daemon on all my home systems and it's a great
fit. However one day I came across this:

https://github.com/Exim/exim/wiki/SimpleGreylisting

Now the idea of no longer needing a separate greylist daemon, thus
reducing the installation footprint (processes, memory, disk-space,
maintenance, etc) is very appealing.

However swapping out a greylist daemon for exim heavy plus a DB server
would defeat the purpose. Also doing lookups from a flat file scan could
become very costly.

I don't consider the sqlite3 library an obtrusive dependency, nor would
it subvert this exim package's goal of being lightweight. Unless of
course enabling support for one SQL data source pulls in so much other
infrastructure, that the difference to exim4-daemon-heavy would be
minimal. In which case I'd withdraw my request.

I also think that debconf (exim4-config) having an enable/disable for
the configuration in the URL above would be a great bonus for all of
this packages users. Especially those with amateur home setups such as
myself.

Best regards,

Thorben
