How does Gandhiji’s principles work in today’s world?

Mahatma Gandhi, popularly known as “Father of the nation’ in India, had faith in and followed Truthfulness, Kindness and Tolerance. His unshakeable faith in non-violence and peaceful resistance put an end to the British rule over India and gave India its independence.
A lot of people think that Gandhiji’s principles do not work in today’s world. But people who live by the values anywhere in the world have demonstrated the power of peaceful defiance to overcome the persecutors. In India’s neighboring country China, people who practice the peaceful exercise and meditation practice called Falun Gong have shown how their upright faith has withstood the torture, slander and ban of prac ticing Falun Gong in China. Falun Gong is an ancient meditation system, practiced freely world over including India - due to its huge health and spiritual benefits.
Peaceful protest is the way how Falun Dafa  practitioners have been holding demonstrations globally. Their peaceful response often remind us of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King. Falun Gong Falun Dafa have borne the brunt of China’s terrifying defense system for over 16 long years and presented what is possibly the most persistent ideological challenge to the atheist Chinese regime in 60 odd years of its communist rule.
Jiang Zemin, the ex-President of the Chinese Communist Party, put a ban on Falun Gong in July 1999 and began the persecution and killing of its followers. His crimes against humanity should not evade justice, or the inspection of moral integrity. It is urgent to defy bullying, threats, inducements, slanderous lies against Falun Dafa and other forms of difficulties that force people to remain mute on this issue, and instead to speak out to denounce such human rights crimes. Your voice of conscience should be heard proudly and openly to ensure that her ancient traditions and values are not vulnerable by the kind of dangerous beliefs held by Jiang Zemin.
In substance , Jiang Zemin’s views and policies oppose everything that an ancient culture and modern democracy such as India represents. History will unfavorably remember all those who assisted this tyrant in this time, and all those that stood with him and did not speak out at the right time. In contrast, history will forever honour those who stood up against oppression those who protected the (ideologies that endanger good in this world and those that heeded the cry for help.
To quote Gandhiji: “you assist an evil system most effectively by obeying its orders and decrees. An evil system never deserves such allegiance. Allegiance to it means partaking of the evil. A good person will resist an evil system with his or her soul.”- Mahatma Gandhi.
We think this is urgent because it concerns us all in some way, wherever we live.
