Hello Matt,

I think cotacting the maintainers is the perfect first step to request a
backport. I have had it on my radar for quite some time but consider

https://bugs.exim.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2886 a blocker for a backport.

I will revisit the issue when this is resolved.
