Intended use of file exim4.conf.localmacros without macros beeing found in config.autogenerated and of course without any effect
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
MAIN_TLS_ENABLE = 1
MAIN_TLS_CERTIFICATE = </my/path/file.crt>
MAIN_TLS_PRIVATEKEY = </my/path/file.key>
with the files in question 640/root:Debian-exim)
   * What was the outcome of this action?
Mailclients complaining newly every day about a certificate 
subject=C = UK, O = Exim Developers, CN = <hostname>
issuer=C = UK, O = Exim Developers, CN = <hostname>
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
Having the option to accept my self signed certificate once for ever

Files below /etc/exim4/conf.d do nowhere have a statement
.include_if_exists-statement  /etc/exim4/exim4.conf.localmacros
and command exim4 -bP tls_certificate prints "tls_certificate ="
