Installing exim4-doc-{info,html} gets docs without installing the
program.  Unfortunately, it doesn't include the README.Debian with
upgrade advice.  The doc itself has only a brief mention of upgrading.

If you can install it in a chroot environment or a test machine that
gives you extra safety.

I'm still at exim3 myself on one machine....
