[Pkg-exim4-users] "re-exec of exim (/usr/sbin/exim4) with -q failed: Permission denied"

Hi,

I'm using debian exim packages exim4_4.52-2_all.deb, 
exim4-daemon-light_4.52-2_i386.deb, exim4-base_4.52-2_i386.deb, 
exim4-config_4.52-2_all.deb on 2 machines, machine_A and machine_B.

I'm encountering "re-exec of exim (/usr/sbin/exim4) with -q failed: 
Permission denied" for machine_A, out of no good reason (i'm not sure if 
i had done any apt-get upgrade for other packages though). machine_B 
doesn't encounter any error, despite sharing the same packages.

I'm looked at the previous postings and checked /usr/sbin and 
/usr/sbin/exim permissions ...

For both machines, i have:
 > drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 8192 Sep 28 10:28 /usr/sbin
 > -rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 650124 Aug 21 17:48 /usr/sbin/exim4

I understand that my posting here may be inappropriate as the 
machine_A's problem may be due to other non-exim dependencies. But i'm 
totally lost, having no idea of how to resolve the problem. Any pointers 
would be greatly appreciated.

The following is what i've extracted from machine_A's 
/var/log/exim/mainlong, illustrating the portion when things start going 
wrong:
