Can you give a patch to the README.Debian.xml file in current unstable?

No way, people who need to set macros need to understand the
configuration anyway, and the list of macros is already there.

As there won't be any changes to sarge, we can only work on sid
packages which will eventually migrate to etch. Discussing sarge docs
is wasted time.
