Well, I fixed that problem - but discovered another one.  Damn Microsoft 
clients.

I have Outlook Express working repeatedly and reliably with plain text 
authentication, and I have a handle on what change I can make to break 
it entirely.

But nothing I've tried thus far will make full blown Outlook XP work, 
and of course the people who need this most use that.  I've read a few 
things on the net and see its a minefield.  Nothing I've read, however, 
gives a me quite the hint I want.  I think its the sasl_login_server 
that I want to use - yet every time I uncomment that it starts to 
complain about repeated server_advertise conditions - even if I comment 
out all the plain text stuff.

So I'd like to stop buzzing round in circles like a fly.  Anyone give me 
a clue?
