Hmm maybe I had that backward. ?

I think the real confusion lay with the docs implying that setting a
netspace make the host a smarthost, and the google reject error..

Quite right I should have asked for log info.
The given solution worked though.

If you have another please lay it out.
I would like to understand this better myself.
