Exporting the actual config file (the one in /var) will most probably
work modulo mail spool location and permission. Exporting the template
or update-exim4.conf.foo will not work until you also use Debian's
scripts on Gentoo.

In any way, you need some basic knowledge if you want to run a mail
server on the Internet. If you have that, you can write your own
config, use Gentoo's method of generating exim config or take
upstream's default config (which we adhere to closely in Debian).
