Thanks. SquirrelMail is just Web server software providing a Web
interface to the mail server. The server can use SMTP directly and msmtp
should work. I installed and configured it.
My server uses tls-on-connect or SMTP tunneled in TLS.
According to the manual, this indicated by "tls on" and
"tls-starttls off". I put those settings along with account and
authentication data in /etc/msmtprc. To test interactively gave
this command.
/usr/bin/msmtp --account=websitewelcome -t --
Then entered a recipient and subject with these two lines.
To: pleasthope at gmail.com
Subject: test
Upon striking <Enter> at the end of the 2nd line, this appeared.
msmtp: /etc/msmtprc: line 5: unknown command tls-starttls
According to the manual, tls-starttls is a legitimate option.
Any idea about this is welcome.
Thanks, ... Peter E.
