The Debian packages are unlikely to change terminology from what
upstream suggests. We aim not to break compatibility with third-party
docs.
That being said, I think that the Documentation is crystal clear and
that most people just don't read it.
You might want to take your suggestions upstream, they do have a
mailing list and a bugzilla.

This is also an upstream issue. Is there an upstream ticket for this?
