[Pkg-exim4-users] delivering to root in a satellite setup

Hi,

this might be a stupid question after all of these years.

I have "just" noticed that, in a satellite setup, mails to root at fqdn is
not even subject to /etc/aliases expansion, which is logical since
satellite does not handle any local mail at all.

I am wondering whether this is the correct way to handle this. Local
applications send mail to root any time, which is qualified to root at fqdn
by exim and then sent on to the smarthost which needs to be aware of all
possible FQDNs that it should be prepared to receive mail for.

I will probably fix this locally by adding a local router handling
root at fqdn _ONLY_. Do you guys think that's a valid method, and should
there be a function like that in the package? Even satellite systems
send mail to their local root in some situations.

Greetings
Marc
