sounds like you removed more than just guest additions... btw -- which,
since there are neurodebian-guest-additions and
virtualbox-guest-additions

you could see details on what was added/removed in /var/log/dpkg.log (in
the editor window ;) ) to get a better clue what has happened.  Then,
depending on what editor it is, you might be able to start some terminal
(or shell) and install things back happened you removed too much

alternative -- just to get a freshly imported appliance -- or have you
done too much of customizations?
