Sorry for silence... I kept recalling about your question when was
away from the keyboard, and was always finding some other open task when
I arrived to the laptop

Your wish is my command

See/try https://github.com/PyMVPA/PyMVPA/pull/483 ?  should handle your
case I think if you specify 'random' ('equidistant' is still too
naive to be applied to cases with lots of possible "products")
