[pymvpa] Remove symmetry from self organizing map

All,

I am using the SimpleSOMMapper to classify things, and the problem I am 
having is that the maps have a toroidal symmetry. That is, the left edge 
and the right edge of the maps are adjacent, as are the bottom edge and 
top edge.

Is it possible to remove this symmetry? Basically, I don't want the 
edges of the map to be related to each other in any way. I am publishing 
in a community that does not understand this idea and I don't want to 
have to explain.
