I too seem to be experiencing this issue with my IBM/Lenovo T60 2008-66M. I
upgraded fglrx packages to 1:8-12-4 and now Xorg will not start. I boot up
as normal, see the login screen for a second or two, then I crash back to
the console. It does this repeatedly until the system tells me something
like it has detected Xorg failing to start multiple times in the last 90
seconds and then will wait 2 minutes before trying again. This will continue
seemingly indefinitely unless I intervene.

I am unable to find the 1:8-7-3 fglrx packages on snapshot.debian.net, the
newest appears to be 1:8-4-1, which module-assistant seems not to be able to
successfully assist me with installing. So right now, I've gone back to the
default vesa driver.

I am attaching output of dmesg (after the crash took place) and lspci -vv,
as well as my xorg.0.log and xorg.conf.
