Hi,

Yeah, after I sent my last reply I upgraded my kernel just to see if that
would make a difference, it hasn't. I upgraded the kernel and ran
module-assistant, which built the fglrx module OK but then got the same
behavior as before, back to the vesa driver as before.

I was actually just saying the other day that it's about time fglrx busted
my system, it's been far too well behaved lately. ;)
