Hi Patrick
Thanks for your reply.
I did what you mentioned below. The results are:
Xserver works after aticonfig, if fglrx kernel module is not loaded.
Xserver doesn't work, if the kernel module is loaded. Instead, the
system hangs completly, leaving me with a black screen, no more terminal
access (ctrl-alt-F1) and doesn't even soft reboot (ctrl-alt-del).
The fact that the new configuration worked without the kernel module,
gave me the idea to check whether dpfk-reconfigure xserver-xorg would
work, if the kernel module is not loaded. The result was, that it didn't
work. This applies to both possibilities; using the kernel framebuffer
and not using the kernel framebuffer for graphics.
Third, i recognized, that my original xorg.conf posted yesterday had two
spelling mistakes in the second device section. So i've deleted this
section entirely. The X server still works with only one device section
like this:
Section "Device"
Identifier "ATI Technologies Inc RV410 [Radeon X700 Pro (PCIE)]"
Driver "fglrx"
BusID "PCI:2:0:0"
EndSection
That's all i know so far. Please let me know, if i can help with some
further tests.
Regards
Daniel
