I have the same problem with fglrx source 9-6-4 and kernel 2.6.30

the only solution i found to keep 3D working without downgrading the 
whole installation :

- using stable kernel version (2.6.26-2)

- downgrading just 1 packet : libdrm2 to stable version (if downgrading 
ask for other packages to be uninstalled; dont break x server, just 
first downgrade to experimental version 2.4.11 and then to 2.3.1) 

- and use fglrx 9-7 .run file from ati's website
