Behaviour has changed since my first report in bug #554847. The whole
system doesn't hang any more.

The screen turns black, with backlight turned on. Power led on the
monitor is on as well.

Mouse and keyboard don't respond at all any more (not even when I
press NumLock or CapsLock on the keyboard).

However I can log on via ssh and examine the system.

The X process is at 100% cpu.

> just to check that it looks reasonable, can you attach your /proc/mtrr

Sure.

I've attached the following files:

dmesg.2010-04-11-17:00:20
interrupts-2010-04-11-16:56:15
mtrr-2010-04-11-16:56:10
ps-aux-grep-X
startx.err.2010-04-11-16:56:53
Xorg.0.log.2010-04-11-16:59:27
xorg.conf

I've tried to strace and attach gdb to the running X process, but X
just hangs and strace prints nothing at all. gdb can attach, but I'm
not able to break.

The X process can't be killed, not even with kill -9.

Yes, that's confusing.

no

Yes, tried that, no change.
