I'm glad it confused you too!  I looked at the strace and my immediate
reaction was, is this the same binary?

Perhaps they have some checksum bomb in it so if the driver changes,
it dies?

I reinstalled the driver and moved the lib64 dir back and it worked
as before, I'll try the rpl thing again.
