[Pkg-fglrx-devel] the future of xvba-va-driver

Hi,

as of the 14.12 release libXvBAW.so.1 gained the functionality to serve
as a va backend by simply adding a symlink

  /usr/lib/<triplet>/dri/fglrx_drv_video.so -> ../libXvBAW.so.1.0

which conflicts with the existing xvba-va-driver package.

We could

1) build xvba-va-driver from src:fglrx-driver (ships only that link) and
abandon src:xvba-video. Would break usage of libfglrx-legacy-amdxvba1 as
backend for xvba-va-driver

2) add the link to libfglrx-amdxvba1 as well as
   Conflicts/Replaces/Provides: xvba-va-driver and
   Provides: va-driver
   (makes xvba-va-driver binary package only usable with the legacy
    driver) Upgrades should be smooth since xvba-va-driver already
    Depends: libfglrx-amdxvba1

3) other suggestions?

Andreas
