That was actually also my thirst thought. 

However, regarding fglrx one has to acknowledge that it is EOL, and at
one point either the X-server or the kernel interface will become
incompatible. 

Anyway, OpenCL will be provided by the non-free amdgpu userspace for
newer cards (don't know whether your two cards fall under that
category), and eventually by mesa. 

There is also already pocl [1] as a free implementation that uses llvm
as backend to generate code for various hardware platforms. (The
package is a bit outdated though [2]).
