Hi everyone,

I think this will be of interest to the Debian maintainers on this list.

The Open Font License 1.1 is now released.

We have taken into account community feedback to update the license and
improve clarity, remove potential ambiguities, and make it easier to use
for both authors and users.

All the information is available on the OFL web site:

A detailed list of changes can be found on the review page:

The only notable change in usage is that authors must now explicitly
list any names that should be Reserved Font Names. The original name of
the font is no longer reserved by default.

Note that there is also an updated FAQ at:

There is also a growing list of font families released under OFL at:

The author of Fontforge (the free software font design tool) is now
planning the integration of the OFL to make it even easier for designers
to free their fonts:

The next step is to launch more openly the unifont.org-coordinated "go
for OFL" community campaign (http://unifont.org/go_for_ofl) to encourage
more designers to release their fonts under a free license for the whole
free desktop to benefit. Please join us in this effort and contact the
designers your are in touch with.

PS: the Debconf paper is being refined. Thoughts and feedback on the
subject welcome :-D
