Package: ttf-dejavu
Version: 2.19-1
Severity: normal
While other Latin glyphs are equipped with proper hinting in the
DejaVu family of fonts, the ligatures for fi, fl, ffi, and ffl are
very poorly hinted (perhaps auto-generated hints?). This causes the
auto-ligated letters to become blurry or extra-weighted in the middle
of crisp, well-hinted text, as if these letters are being hilighted
with a different style.
In most programs only the ffl looks extremely bad. However ffi and the
rest look bad in Iceweasel as well. (This is separate from the
Iceweasel bug with justified text and ligatures.) I am unsure why the
badness varies between programs.
Please either fix the hinting to be consistent with the rest of the
font or disable the ligatures until they can be fixed.
