A date is present (CreationTime/ModificationTime) but is not what you
need. A fontforge version number would be what you'd need. Actually it
should be an sfd version number. Unfortunately, when I made the change I
did not realize it was incompatible and I did not bump the version
number.

And I think it is too late to do so now.
