[Pkg-fonts-devel] Current status of defoma-hints truetype support

Hi pkg-fonts developers,

Because I am working on a new font package[1], I searched the wiki and
found the Fonts/PackagingPolicy[2] page. In this page it mentioned to use
defoma-hints to generate hints file, but currently the truetype category
is unusable because libft-perl is removed[3] from Debian.

What is the correct way to create a new font package? Should I write
hint files manually?

And is there any plan to fix the truetype support? Maybe replace
libft-perl by a newer freetype2 wrapper.

Regards,
Kanru
