Thank you very much for taking a look at the sources.
I will prune some things from the final binary package (say, things for
vtex, which don't need to be installed---and, of course, keep the
package tidy and to save some disk space).
Oh, is it clear (now that you took a chance to look at the package) why
it should be targeted at non-free?
Talking a bit more about the Debian packaging, I think that I will
rewrite the copyright file that Kevin wrote (and which I minorly
edited), so that it is more readable.
Oh, since you are talking about the TeX side, what about the dependency
of tex-common? Should I keep the >= 0.16 (to get proper triggers
support), should I remove the versioned dependency, bump the version
even more etc?

Thanks for letting me know about that. I really apreciate your guidance
on getting this in shape.

Yes, I didn't upgrade yet, because I have to study the changes in 3.8.3
(just reading the upgrading checklist wasn't enough for some packages of
mine).

Oh, sure. Not having to bother other people with some updates is indeed
a good thing.
