Quick note to confirm that the open fonts in the Google Font Directory
are indeed intended to be available for packaging in the various
distros: they are libre/open fonts in any case. ("free font" is too
ambiguous a term and refers to freeware fonts). But there are a few
metadata buglets remaining to be ironed out and the latest version needs
to be sent by upstream authors (i.e. commits to the upstream hg repo)
before the distros can package them.

Also note how some of the fonts have been "optimized" for the web. A
Debian package will probably want to have the fuller version.

This will be discussed and sorted at the upcoming LGM in Brussels next
week.

Give them a little time :-)
