Dear Christian,

Thanks for picking up the work on this!

Quick comments (more later):

It seems fonts-cantarell/trunk is not yet fully synced with upstream
(missing changes added to version 0.0.5 and 0.0.6 and a bunch of
documentation fixes). I will commit them to our repo from the current
GNOME git repo.
With these changes various sfd files and the otf files have the expected
versionning (0.0.6 currently) but other source files still have older
versions. I guess we can focus on shipping the .otf in the binary
package as is the case now.

Given that the upstream buildpath still has bugs I suggested we ignore
it in debhelper through overrides of dh_auto_configure and
dh_auto_build. Seems like a good solution for now.

There are authors of items in the source tree which are not credited in
the README. Maybe the packaging metadata can help there?

Also as suggested in
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-fonts-devel/2011-May/006626.html
I'd consider releasing the packaging under something different than GPL+
given potential future interactions of build scripts with other existing
licensing of the font: what about something like "under the same license
as the font software?"

HTH,
