So it still confuses on who is culprit because DroidSans Mono renders
perfectly well on KDE Konsole. Or is it may be because the difference in
approach how pango and Qt rendering engine handles this (if any).

Yeah it renders fine even on Konsole

I see I didn't check that font. But I found the behaviour in
fonts-inconsolata

Until some font or rendering engine expert checks this issue I guess we
won't be going anywhere :-).
