Package: fonts-cmu
Version: 0.7.0-2
Severity: serious

Hi,

Your package seems to include some files that lack source in the
prefered form for modification.

[all of the font files, which according to the README were built using
some scripts]

According to Debian Free Software Guidelines [1] (DFSG) #2:
"The program must include source code, and must allow distribution
in source code as well as compiled form.".

This could also constitute a license violation for some copyleft
licenses such as the GNU GPL.

In order to solve this problem, you'd presumably have to redo the
packaging to build from the *source* tarball, available at:
<http://sourceforge.net/projects/cm-unicode/files/cm-unicode/0.7.0/cm-unicode-0.7.0-src.tar.xz>

Since texlive-fonts-extra is missing the same sources (though for
different binaries), presumably the new package should build packages
for each output format, and texlive-fonts-extra should drop its
cm-unicode font files and just depend on the new
fonts-cm-unicode-{otf,pfb} packages. (Are those the proper names?)

(I've actually already begun trying to make the source tarball into a
buildable package.)

You could also ask debian-qa at lists.debian.org or #debian-qa for more
guidance.
