The review can help with this issue:

Some templates for this and other font-related bugs here:

Some ideas, I don't plan to work on these though:
Package all the tools needed for building some fonts that acutally
have proper source code developed in git. I'm thinking here of the
Google fork of fonttools, Adobe ADFKO and so on.
Package some missing free fonts:

Improve Debian's Unicode coverage:
https://wiki.debian.org/Fonts/UnicodeCoverage
When DEP-11 is ready, ensure that Debian catches up with Fedora
finally for automatically installing fonts when a page/document/etc
has glyphs not in installed fonts.

Improve the fonts review, get it linked from tracker.d.o, make it add
actions to tracker.d.o, make it updated when packages are uploaded
instead of weekly, move it to debian.org hardware, base it off DEP-11,
add web fonts and replace fonts.d.n with it:

http://fonts.debian.net/
Review and clean up our wiki pages:
https://wiki.debian.org/Fonts
Finally get rid of the remaining defoma bugs:
