I don't think so. I doubt anyone ever seriously used these Symbol
fonts.

You need to remove *all* config files, not only the ones for the Symbol
font. All the other fontconfig snippets are also redundant.

Is 2015-09-29-license-adobe-1 really the version string for the
package? *shiver*
