Yes, I think its more like some "adobe license" related stuff was done to
repo and tagged to identify the point.

Now using the tag name as version allows us to track upstream release
even if its ugly (as Fabian said). This is the reason I took it as
version.

So I don't have any preference here, if team thinks this is not good
version I'm okay to change it :-).
