@Holger: fonts-noto udeb now¹ includes "Noto Serif Gujarati", so I 
believe² you can simply go ahead and patch gtk-rootskel to use it.

¹ I intended to ask installer team to acknowledge first, but notice now 
that it slipped and I accidentally let the experimental change get 
through to unstable and now testing, so that is now reversed: If 
installer team don't want the added font (177kb) then please shout.

² Seems from commit messages that you have write access to rootskel-gtk.
