[Pkg-fonts-devel] fonts-cmu dieresis problem

Hello,
I really like CMU Bright fonts and therefor installed fonts-cmu package
0.7.0-3 in Debian Buster but there seems to be a problem with at least
A-, O-, U-dieresis, which are quite important in German texts.

Observations:
when working with LibreOffice, creating pdf's etc. everything seems fine
on screen, but when it comes to printing, on the printouts the dieresis
dots are shifted down into the letters itself
(at least with CMU Bright and CMU Sans Serif).

I'v attached two pdf-files:
1. the generated pdf, sent to the printer, which on screen looks fine
2. a scan of the result the printer was producing (different postscript
   printers, Debian and Ubuntu machine)

As you can see in the pdf's, when installing the fonts from
https://fontlibrary.org/de/font/cmu-bright
it seems to work fine, but these fonts have much less glyphs and slightly
different size or line spacing.

Additionally I made a screenshot of fontforge details about U-dieresis,
comparing the Debian-package-font (left) vs. fontlibrary font (right).

Remark:
The otf-fonts from the site
ftp://canopus.iacp.dvo.ru/pub/Font/cm_unicode/cm-unicode-0.6.3a-otf.tar.gz
seem to work correctly but I'm not sure if I could run into problems as
mentioned in the "Warnings" section there, and I'd prefer the Debian package.

Do you have some hints how I could debug this?
