Package: fonts-cmu
Version: 0.7.0-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

diacritical marks on letters (e.g. ÄÖÜ) of texts typeset in CMUBright or
CMUSansSerif are misplaced on printouts.

Steps to reproduce:
install fonts-cmu
create LibreOffice- or Inkscape document
type letter Ä (LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A WITH DIAERESIS) (U+00C4)
optional: export to pdf (with fonts included)
print (KonicaMinolta BizHub 224, or Brother HL5350)
Result: on the screen everything looks fine, but on the printout
        diaresis dots are not above the A but shifted into the letter

Remarks:
no difference if printing from Debian or from Ubuntu
no difference if printing to KonicaMinolta (C554 SeriesPS(P) driver)
   or to Brother (BR3 Script driver)
no difference if printing from LibreOffice, Okular, Evince, Inkscape

only difference:
printing from (virtual) Windows 7, AcrobatReader, to KonicaMinolta
(PCL-Driver) => everything correct!

Workaround:
uninstall fonts-cmu
get cm-unicode-0.7.0-otf.tar.xz (otf, NOT ttf!)
from https://sourceforge.net/projects/cm-unicode/files/cm-unicode/0.7.0/
install otf-Version of the fonts
=> everything works as expected.

Note:
There are different diacritical marks on different letters in different
fonts of fonts-cmu-package affected, not only CMUBright and CMUSansSerif.
For CMUBright I found roughly 230 of 760 letters affected.
In the attachments you can find two pdf's, one pdf generated by Inkscape
which was sent to the printer and one pdf containing a scan of the printout
with yellow highlighted misplacements.
