Thank you for your bug report. I'm able to reproduce the problem in 
libreoffice as well as inkscape.

However there seems to be no problem with gedit(gnome) nor gnustep, see 
these as reference:
http://bootes.ethz.ch/allerta/

Upstream is in Cc:, Matt, do you think you can do something about it?
