I have uploaded the latest development snapshot of the GNU FreeFonts to 
experimental. The package contains nearly ten years (!) of development 
relative to our current package in unstable/testing/stable, but built 
surprisingly well. I am not going to upload it to unstable before the 
next Debian stable release, but probably immediately after 
(unfortunately, I have branched off the "experimental" branch in our GIT 
repo just one commit too late and now it contains the 20211204 sources 
in the "master" branch, but I can fix that if necessary).

I'd like to ask you to install and test this package and report (or fix) 
any issues that you might encounter. Unfortunately (?), I had to remove 
all of our patches, because none of them applied anymore. So, if you 
have submitted a patch in the past, please check if you fix made it into 
the upstream sources or (ask me to) provide a new patch.
