I request permission to do the transition for poppler 26.01
Poppler unfortunately bumps the soname with every monthly release.
This is the January 2026 release so we're still a few months behind
but this is still a significant improvement and it matches what is in
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.
The auto tracker is good:
https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-poppler.html
Reverse depends
==============
I successfully tested most reverse depends with Salsa CI. See the
build-reverse-dependencies section of
https://salsa.debian.org/freedesktop-team/poppler/-/pipelines/1089238
I canceled jobs which aren't needed for this transition [1] according
to the auto tracker.
I fixed openboard in unstable.
gdal and kitinerary failed only because Salsa CI's reverse dependency
jobs don't work when there is a version in experimental [2]. I
verified that the builds succeed for both of these in unstable and in
experimental.
xpdf wasn't included because of Salsa CI's current 100 job limit [3].
I successfully test built it locally.
calligra and libreoffice exceeded Salsa CI's limits. I successfully
test built calligra locally. I haven't test built LibreOffice yet but
it is likely to succeed since it succeeded in both Fedora & Ubuntu
which have the same versions of libreoffice and poppler.
