Package: xdg-utils
Version: 1.1.3-4.1ubuntu3~22.04.1
Severity: important
Tags: patch upstream
I’m the upstream maintainer of Caffeine, and noticed that it was no longer
working on my GNOME 42 system.
Of course, the actual bug was in xdg-screensaver: until recently,
gnome-screensaver ran on GNOME systems, and xdg-screensaver used that. Now,
it needs to use the freedesktop DBus API.
Unfortunately, the freedesktop-related code in xdg-screensaver was also
buggy (at least, it didn’t match the DBus API spec).
Fortunately, the fix was easy, as the code used to handle gnome-screensaver
can. with small modifications, be used for a correct implementation.
I have provided the fix as a Merge Request to xdg-utils:
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xdg/xdg-utils/-/merge_requests/62
I am filing this bug report because I know that xdg-utils upstream is slow
(Debian already has a patch of mine in its packaging from 2016).
