Hello,

I have installed oolite on a fresh new system and I think I know what
your problem is.

I have seen a simillar thing on this system.

Please, start the game and keep the key(s) pressed long enough it
responds. On this system it takes a while to respond (about 2
seconds).

Also, in either case please provide the following info:
cat /proc/cpuinfo
free -m
lspci -n
lspci -vvv
