The version of your config file does not match the version of VDrift.
You may have problems running the game. Delete your
~/.vdrift/VDrift.config 
to fix this.

This is because the VERSION in the source is set from the SConstruct file:

version = strftime("%Y-%m-%d")
env.Append(CPPDEFINES = [('VERSION', '\\"%s\\"' % version)])

I think tis should be constant, instead of depending on the build date.
