Your Visual does not support PseudoColor, this is not koules fault, even
if PseudoColor support is rare this day, so I don't think this is RC 

You can check which the visuals your xserver support with xdpyinfo.

(Some programm cannot be ported to TrueColor or DirectColor because
they use the extra level of indirection that PseudoColor provides.
I don't know if it is the case here.)
