hello again :)
i was looking into the white noise problem reported this morning, and
can't seem to build unstripped binaries or disable optimisation via
the usual techniques. furthermore, it seems that even the CFLAGS that
are set at the top of debian/rules are ignored entirely in the build
process.
without looking too deeply into this, i think the issue is that it's
assumed that the ./Transcend/configure script is a typical autoconf
type configure script, when in fact it isn't.
