the red/green/yellow/blue lights in the top left and right of the game
screen end up getting too bright at some points during songs, and you
can't see the notes that you're supposed to play.
note that the upstream version does not have this problem.  the lighting
renders behind the fret board.
if i had to guess, the lighting is being rendered in the wrong order.
