the xbox x-plorer guitar works well with fretsonfire.  it just takes a
bit of effort to get it going.  these two forum posts are very useful 
to get it set up using the xpad (xbox controller) kernel module:

please add documentation to the fretsonfire docs.

also, it would probably be useful to get the xpad kernel module packaged
so that it works for average users without any effort on their part.
