Internet games are easy :)
Which DE/WM are you running? Gnome? KDE? Xfce? Is Compiz(-Fusion)
active?

Can you try forcing Composite off with
Section "Extensions"
	Option  "Composite"     "Disable"
EndSection
at the end of you /etc/X11/xorg.conf?

Btw, I talked with upstream about that, and the only idea he had that
this is the card-animation, but as you say it even happens with no game
running, so it seems to be something different.
